V.01 "HOW TO DRAW UP A PROJECT"

over 1.3 billion people living in squatter settlements...

sounds like a job for an architect.

W.01 "HOW TO DRAW UP A PROJECT"

Uncertainty clouds my thesis in a fine mist. I have a project that I would like to undertake as the culmination of all my knowledge and experience, but that does not imply I have a thesis. Especially after reading Mateo's article. I find myself searching for what critically harms architecture so badly that I feel the need to uproot it and change it. It will all depend on finding the right words.

Mateo simplifies the process of architecture, and in doing so ignores the complexities inherent in the process that makes the mere thought of architecture itself beautiful. From idea to built form is quite reductionist, and Mateo comes off vague and unclear. Utopian views that architecture is like "the organic growth of cells which little by little fill the organism eventually to give it flesh and body" are only feeding the egos of an already egotistically saturated profession. An immersion into the details and complexity of the process of architecture and its many interdisciplinary communication challenges can lead to alternative delivery method of projects that can all together change the profession for the better. Projects begin to have material qualities even when conceived as ideas because an architects intuition is a crucial tool (and powerful one in an architect's arsenal).

Let's not underestimate our intuition.
